Department of History

The Department of History has been an inherent part of Lakhimpur Girls’ College since 1972. This department offers higher secondary and degree courses as per the prescribed syllabus of AHSEC and Dibrugarh University respectively. The major thrust area of this department is to popularize the subject History. At present the department is venturing into finding out the unheeded history of Lakhimpur District. In this regard, different collaborative researches have been approached in the field of local history narratives.

VISION

  1. The Department of History aims to make the students aware of the past through all the perspectives via research and extension activities in most relevant contexts of modern age.  
  2. We believe that only a critical understanding of the past will enable the students to understand the present and help them to confronta challenging future.

MISSION

  1. Transform the students into good citizens who are critically informed about the past and its consequences for the present and the future.
  2. Empower students to cope with the challenges of globalization by instilling in them a life-long passion for learning about the past.
