Department of Physics

The Department of Physics was established in 1990 .This department was established with the aim of popularizing the royal science among girls. This department offers higher secondary and degree courses as per the prescribed syllabus of AHSEC and Dibrugarh University respectively. The department has chosen optical physics as its major thrust area of research. In this regard one Major Research Project has been recently accomplished. For the last few years the department has been undertaking research works on soil and degraded ecosystem in the vicinity of Lakhimpur district.

VISION

The department of Physics, Lakhimpur Girls’ College has a vision to build a foundation for excellence and encourage the development of the institution as a premier institution by igniting and nurturing enthusiasm, interests and passion, in the study of physics, inprofessional courses, as a part of curriculum. Our commitment lies in producing comprehensive knowledge seekers and human individuals, capable of building a strong and developed nation.

MISSION

  1. To encourage the students, discover their talents and enhance their capability forproper understand in both the theory and practical physics, with the skill of acquiring minute observations and basic concept of the theory through innovative, dedicative teaching.
  2. To make teaching-learning process more effective, utilized emerging instrumental methods like LCD presentation, smart board, recognize website, online journal etc.
  3. To involve the department in the developmental activities of the department and the college to make the college as well as the department vibrant.
  4. To introduce new programmes covering emerging field, particularly industry oriented employment generating programmes in the department.
  5. To provide continuous effort to improve vital parts of the department like modern labs, department library and also faculty for enhance the competence of the students as wellas faculty.
  6. To make effort, for introduce innovative ideas for continuous improvement of the department.
