Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)

A student who has passed Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) in Science of the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council or an equivalent examination (10+2) recognized as such by the University, shall be eligible for admission into the First Semester of the Six Semester Degree Course in Science in Semester System.

A. PROGRAMMES:

Compulsory Courses: These courses are the compulsory courses for all students of the programme concerned.

Major Courses: The courses shall be optional and Non-mandatory.

Non-Major Courses: Non-Major courses shall be chosen by the students, who do not opt for major courses.

Skill-based Courses: A skill based course shall be mandatory for all students pursuing General B.A. and B.Sc. Programmes.

B. SUBJECTS:

The subjects mentioned bellow shall be offered in the B.A Six Semester Degree programmes:

  2. Computer Skills / Communication Skills
  3. Environmental Studies*
  4. Skill based Courses (For General programme only)

Elective Subjects :

  8. Economics
  9. Home Science

Mathematics          : 30 seats English - One paper Physics/Economics/Chemistry
Physics                     : 30 seats English - One paper Mathematics/Chemistry/Economics.
Chemistry               : 30 seats English - One paper Mathematics / Physics/Economics
Botany                    : 40 seats English - One paper Chemistry/ Zoology/Home Science /Geography / Anthropology
Zoology                   : 40 seats English - One paper Chemistry, Botany/Home Science/Geography / Anthropology
Anthropology         : 5 seats English - One paper Eng Chemistry/Botany/Zoology/Geography
Geography              : 5 seats English - One paper Chemistry/Botany/Zoology

D. SUBJECTS COMBINATION FOR B.A.(NON-MAJOR):

The candidates are required to offer four subjects in all:

Compulsory Subjects:

  1. English

For the remaining two Non-Major subjects, the students are free to choose any subject in their combinations barring the following combinations which are not be regarded valid.

  2. Chemistry, Botany, Zoology
  3. Chemistry, Botany/Zoology, Home Science
  4. Chemistry, Botany/Zoology, Anthropology/Geography
