Lakhimpur Girls' College

The Department of Economics has been an inherent part of Lakhimpur Girls’ College since 1972. This department offers higher secondary and degree courses as per the prescribed syllabus of AHSEC and Dibrugarh University respectively. Area of focus of this department is to make the subject, i.e. Economics, student friendly. As a social responsibility the department frequently organizes talks on socio-economic issue. In this regard, different collaborative researches have been approached in the field of local history narratives.

VISION

1. To inculcate and instil in the students the fundamental and principles of the various disciplines of Economics to build a strong base for pursuing higher education.
2. To provide highly qualified, well rounded and motivated students with a sound knowledge of the subject and its applicability in real world to serve the society.
3. To motivate students for self enhancement through continual expansion of knowledge and personality development.
4. To enhance the analytical and logical ability of the students; hence enabling them to pursue technical careers in the field of Economics.

MISSION

1. To prepare the students for acquiring applied knowledge of Economics and to enhance their skill of employability.
2. We are also taking deliberate steps to heighten our students' interest towards higher education.
3. All the activities of the Department are aimed to encourage the students to explore beyond the frontiers of the prescribed syllabus, evaluate economic issues using the skills and tools acquired both inside and outside the classroom.
