Lakhimpur Girls' College

The Department of Education was established in 1972. The department offers Higher Secondary and Three years' Bachelor of Arts in Education Programme which comprises of total 6 (six) semesters viz. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th. For imparting the programme based learning experiences, the syllabus of Dibrugarh University is being followed for the Three years' Bachelor of Arts in Education Programme. In terms of end semester evaluation and grading, the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) prescribed by the Dibrugarh University is being followed. For the purpose of Higher Secondary, the syllabus prescribed by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) is followed. Besides the normal courses, this department offers Certificate Course on Nursery Teachers' Training. The department has been undertaking diverse fields of research based projects pertaining to academia, organizes seminars and undertakes field-trips and extention programmes.

1. To provide equitable and quality higher education to the students for development of in-depth knowledge and understanding to meet the educational, socio-cultural and developmental needs. The department has the vision to produce quality human resource especially for the teaching profession.
2. To inculcate the highest values of life, humanity and equip them with certain skills for better livelihood and make contributions towards the society.

For all round development of the students, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are planned considering both individual and societal needs.
