The Department of Hindi was established in 1989. The department offers higher secondary and graduate course in Hindi as per the prescribed syllabus of AHSEC and Dibrugarh University respectively. To place Hindi in mainstream of society this department is primarily focusing at transliteration of classical Assamese literature, and critical appreciation of the same in Hindi. So far, number books have been contributed by the faculty members of the department. Since its establishment the Hindi department has been keenly involved in literacy campaign for girl child.
