Lakhimpur Girls' College

The Department of Political Science has been an integral part of Lakhimpur Girls’ College since 1972. This department offers higher secondary and degree as per the prescribed syllabus of AHSEC and Dibrugarh University respectively. The major focus of this department is to dissemination of human right related awareness. In this regard the department is also running an add-on course on Human Rights.

VISION

The vision of the department of political science, Lakhimpur Girls’ college is to impart quality education in Political Science among the girls’ students of the backward districts of Assam where the majority of the population are poor and illiterate. Besides, a large percentage of them belong to scheduled tribes, scheduled castes, and minority communities. It aims at making them disciplined and hardworking so that they can bring glory not only to the department and the college but also to the entire humanity where they belong to. The efforts of the department are directed towards bringing self-consciousness and alertness among the students regarding their role and responsibilities to the nation, society, and humanity.

MISSION

1. To impart theoretical knowledge of Political Science and relate it to the existing political scenario.
2. Organization of seminars/webinars and awareness programmes on human rights, and women empowerment.
3. Organization of various programmes on days of national and international importance such as Constitution Day, Voters’ Day, and Human Rights Day.
