College Anthem

The Crest of the College enshrines a ceremonial lamp (banti) on a new altar (natun bedi), a book opened on a Sharai (a pedestalled ceremonial plate) and the two are encircles by the rays of a rising sun. Upon the flame of the lamp is inscribed the golden words of greatmen "Vidya Jyotimaya". The crest epitomises the dynamism, progress, tireless attempt and hard work, aspiration, all embracing love and endless quest for knowledge which is the quintessence of the culture of Assam.

The lamp and Sharai symbolise love, hope and aspiration. The book is the traditional symbol of knowledge. The rising sun symbolises the realm of wisdom and the diffusion of knowledge.

Dr. Babul Bujarboruah, Rtd. Lecturer, Department of History is the designer of the Crest which was approved by the then Governing Body. A poem explaining the importance of the Crest was composed by Dr. Bujarboruah and the same was published in the 1st issue of this College Magazine edited by Ms. Ranjana Konwar.

The College Chorus (accepted as the College Anthem, please find below), composed by Mr. Harendra Kr. Bhuyan, has some affinity with the symbolic meaning of the Crest.
