Scholarships to Students

 

Lakhimpur Girls’ College provides scholarships and Freeships to deserving students. A list of scholarships is also mentioned in the college prospectus. The college authority verifies scholarship and freeship applications submitted by deserving students. The college management makes sure that students who qualify for financial aid will take advantage of it.

For meritorious and eligible underprivileged students who are not eligible for government scholarships or freeships or other scholarships; Lakhimpur Girls' College offers a scholarship scheme called "Students’ Aid Fund."

The information regarding the scholarships and freeships alongwith list of eligible candidates is periodically announced on the college notice board.

All scholarships are paid immediately into the student's bank account; however, incentive scholarships backed by individuals are paid in cash or in-kind as needed.

Government Scholarships:

  1. National Merit Scholarship.
  2. State Merit Scholarship.
  3. Scholarships to SC/ ST --As prescribed by the Project Director ITDP.
  4. Scholarships to OBC/ MOBC --As prescribed by the Sub-Divisional Welfare Officer.

Government Fee Waiver Scheme (under Pragyan Bharati):

Students whose parents' income is less than Rs. 2 lakh can avail this facility of free admission in higher secondary (HS), degree(BA, BSc and BCom) and master degree (MA, MSc and MCom) programmes.

Students' Aid Fund:

On application to the Principal with necessary documents, an amount upto a maximum of Rs. 3,000/- (lumpsum) is granted to the deserving student under this scheme.

Incentive Scholarships:

  1. Late Radhika Devi Memorial Scholarship: A cash prize of Rs. 2400.00 (or Books of Rs. 2400.00) is awarded to the student securing highest aggregate marks in Higher Secondary Examination from the college. 
  2. Late Mafizur Rehamn Boruah Memorial Scholarship: A cash prize of Rs. 700.00 (or Books of Rs. 700.00) is awarded to the student securing highest marks in English in the higher secondary examination from the college and getting admitted in to BA 1st year of the college. This award is donated by Jobeen Zarrin Akhtar Baruah, retired Vice Principal, Lakhimpur Girls’ College. 
  3. Late Brajendra Nath Dutta Memorial Scholarship: A cash prize of Rs.1500.00 (or Books of Rs. 1500.00) is awarded to the student securing highest marks in Assamese Major course not less than 50% from the college. This award is donated by Deepanjali Dutta, retired Vice Principal, Lakhimpur Girls’ College.
  4. Late Janaki Devi Memorial Scholarship: A cash prize of Rs. 1000.00 (or Books of Rs. 1000.00) is awarded to the students of BA securing Highest marks in the last annual examination.
  5. Late Dipumoni saikia Memorial Scholarship: A cash prize of Rs. 500.00 (or Books of Rs. 500.00) is awarded to the students securing highest marks in economics major in BA final examination. This award is donated by Tuniram Saikia.
  6. Late Munindra Nath Dutta Memorial Scholarship: A cash prize of Rs. 500.00 (or Books of Rs. 500.00) is awarded to the students securing highest marks in Mathematics major in BSc final examination. This award is donated by late Hiranya Dutta.
  7. Nanda-Sneha Award: A cash prize of Rs.1500.00 (or Books of Rs. 1500.00) awarded to the students securing highest marks in Political Science final BA examination in memory of Late Nandeswar Dutta and Late Sneha Lata Dutta This award is donated by Dr. Amarendra Kr Dutta, retired Associate Professor Lakhimpur Girls’ College.  
  8. Late Purnima Borah Award: A cash prize of Rs. 4000.00 (or Books of Rs. 4000.00) is awarded to the students securing highest marks in Philosophy major in BA final examination This award is donated by Horen Kumar Borah, retired Vice Principal, Lakhimpur Girls’ College.
