Post Graduate Programme in Home Science:
Home science is the science of a home and community which includes all the things that concern the person, home, family members, resources and society. Home science education is worth life education. It is the education for “better living" and the core of this education is the "family ecosystem". Its scope is not limited only to household activities of women. It provides diverse exposure to the learners and practitioners. Home science prepares the students with great variety of vocation and career fields and also enables them to get self-employed.
The Department of Home Science of Lakhimpur Girls' College emphasizes on developing core discipline specific skills among the students. With the objective to help students prepare themselves for their future roles in professional as well as social spheres, the college introduced Post Graduate Programme in Home Science in the year 2015. Lakhimpur Girls' College is the only institution in Assam after Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, which imparts Post Graduate Programme in Home Science. Students from various parts of Assam and neighbouring States are being benefitted from the programme. Till 2021, 42 students passed out from the department and most of the students are absorbed in various educational institutions or are self-employed.
