Lakhimpur Girls' College

The Department of English has been an integral part of Lakhimpur Girls’ College since 1972. This department offers higher secondary and degree as per the prescribed syllabus of AHSEC and Dibrugarh University respectively. The major focus of this department is to bring English language to a common platform, and popularize the same. Besides the normal course this department focuses on Creative Writing, Rhetoric and Composition, Spoken English etc.

VISION & MISSION 

We aim to inculcate knowledge about the English language as well as literature among the students. We also strive to engage the students in analyzing various social issues critically, thereby developing their individual perspectives.

The Department of English endeavors to impart the knowledge of literatures across the globe, which will further help the students in developing an understanding of other societies and cultures. This will enable them to bridge the social, cultural and linguistic gap. 

The Department is also on a mission to make better citizens out of our students, by giving them lessons on gender equality, education and its importance, the various roles of an individual for the upliftment of society, environmental and other holistic issues. Moreover, we attempt to strengthen the linguistic base of English amongst the students, which will immensely help them in their futures. There is also an attempt to instill an aspiration in the students to contribute to the subject and the society through their future research projects.
